Advocating For Your Safety

Through participation in working groups with the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), VisionVest is advocating for a US standard that’s more in line with Europe’s EN ISO 20471, which includes provisions for safety gear manufacturers to certify for active lighting.

The addition of an active lighting component—and other incoming technologies—in ANSI will push manufacturers to innovate and give contractors and safety professionals more options to protect their crews and fortify their work zones against risks.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, more than 20,000 workers are injured in road construction zones every year. This accounts for more than 10% of the 195,600 yearly workplace injuries in the industry as a whole. Roadside construction workers face exceptionally high risk in an already dangerous sector.

These stats motivate VisionVest to increase the standard of safety.
